RIGHTEOUS WAY

Do not repay evil for evil. Be careful to
do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is
possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace
with everyone.

Cover me, Lord, as I go into my day. Protect me from my own desire to be right or to have my way. When I face someone who is not fair or just, give me the gift of silence or wise words to diffuse the situation. I'll admit, sometimes I would rather prove someone wrong than prove peace is righteous.
Lead my mind to peaceful situations. Give my heart the tenderness it needs to see beyond evil to the needs of the oppressed. And bless me, Lord, with the presence of mind to act in a righteous way that gives others a glimpse of You, the Peacemaker of the soul.
